BN's Stand: No Begging for Cabinet Posts
In a bold statement, Barisan Nasional's (BN) Youth communications director, Neow Choo Seong, has clarified that the coalition did not grovel for positions in the Sabah Cabinet. This comes as a response to accusations by Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah's youth wing, who claimed BN was demanding a place in the state government despite the recent election results.
The election, held on December 1st, 2025, saw BN put up a disappointing performance, winning only six seats out of the 45 they contested. Despite this, BN's Jafry Ariffin, one of the coalition's successful candidates, was appointed as the state's tourism, culture, and environment minister. Jafry's appointment sparked controversy, as it was seen by some as a sign of BN's desperation for ministerial posts.
However, Neow has set the record straight, emphasizing that "politics is not a personal interest game." He added, "Posts that do not benefit the public have no value." Neow's remarks reflect BN's commitment to serving the people's interests, regardless of their position in the government.
But here's where it gets interesting: BN's youth leader, Neow, seems to be in agreement with Akmal Saleh, the BN and Umno Youth chief, who had initially suggested that BN should remain in the opposition with Warisan and Perikatan Nasional. Neow believes that BN should embrace its role as a strong opposition, championing the people's interests without hiding behind any coalition.
"It's about choosing the harder path with dignity," Neow said. "BN must prove its worth by standing with the people, defending their rights, and upholding integrity. We cannot be bought or threatened."
So, what's your take on this? Is BN's decision to accept a ministerial post a sign of strength or weakness? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
