Youths Intimidate Business Owners, KFC Shuts Down | Police Dispersal Order (2026)

A dispersal order has been put in place until midnight after a group of around 50 young people caused a disturbance and intimidated a business owner in Ashton-in-Makerfield town centre. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 8, and the owner of Hel's Kitchen was left feeling intimidated and had her phone knocked out of her hand while she filmed the group outside her store. The KFC restaurant next door was also forced to close due to the disturbance. Local councillor Danny Fletcher assured the public that this is not the first time such anti-social behaviour has been witnessed in the town centre, and that consequences will be taken against those responsible. He also mentioned that he would be meeting with GMP's senior team and local schools to tackle the pattern of behaviour, not just the incident itself. The dispersal order is in place until midnight, and the police were called to the scene at 7:49 pm.
